{Me = Kristiaan}

I love live to {travel}.  To learn something new, experience a different culture… foods, smells, architecture.  That is when I feel the most "alive".  Here is the list of where I’ve been and what’s next.


I hate exercise but I love {candy}.  Dang it!


I love to {dance}.  I used to teach and perform salsa dancing. I am inspired by many forms of dance.


I love that being with {Lionel} is so natural and easy – I am myself with him.  I love making fun of his feet. I love his talent.  I love how much we have in common.  I love his family.  I love being silly with him.


Doing this {work with my best friend} is amazing.  We complement each other, we compete, we divide and conquer, we share the experience.  I sneak a kiss once in a while.  Couldn't imagine it any other way.

When I’m {shooting}, I love to include a lot of the surroundings in the image – it tells a story or creates visual interest. I love making people teeny tiny in the frame. I also love silhouettes, backlight, lens flare, and finding depth through my lens. I want to describe real people and real love through art.


{Family and Friends} are incredible.  I don't know how I would get through life without them all.  How?!!

I {sweat}.  A lot.  Like a man.  It sucks.  Sometimes… I put maxi pads under my armpits.  It's brilliant.


My {dream} for the future is to travel somewhere amazing once a year, to be happily married, to have at least one healthy child, and to be a full-time photographer.

I am Haitian, speak {French}, not Creole and was born in Monrovia, Liberia.

I crave {chocolate and ice cream} 24/7. I eat both daily.


I love {biking} - road or mountain.

I have a {watch} fetish.

I’ve learned a small amount of {Japanese} from watching {anime} for 20+ years.


I have an irrational fear of {tornadoes}. Don’t ask.


I have the most expensive, but sweetest {dog} in the world.


I’m obsessed with questioning {tv/movie lighting} techniques, which drives Kristiaan crazy!

I spent close to 10 years working in {cabinet making}, from high school through college.

I’ve been {skydiving} and LOVED it.

I had a {pneumothorax} and HATED it.


I think about the following when {shooting}: symmetry, abstract, intimacy, hands, honesty, shadows, light, doing something different, ninjas.
